The Ultimate List of Short-term Rental Sites

General

Are you interested in expanding the reach of your properties and getting more bookings?

There’s no shortage of sites available to list your short-term rentals in order to achieve a fully-booked season. Taking the time to create listings for multiple sites may add extra work and management, but you can also reach a broader audience.

We’ve compiled the ultimate list of short-term rental sites and online travel agencies (OTAs) to help you plan your next move. Our list includes well-known rental sites and OTAs along with niche, specialty providers that cater to particular needs. Some of these sites even offer comprehensive property management services, such as syncing your listing across their partner network or cleaning and maintaining properties on your behalf.

Vacation and Short-Term Rental Sites

1. Airbnb

As one of the most well-known sites for vacation rentals, Airbnb has name recognition and a regular customer base that can help your properties get in front of millions of guests. Although Airbnb can be restrictive for growth-oriented rental managers, it can be a good starting point if you are new to the industry. Check out our Airbnb Host Checklist for more tips to get started.

2. Vrbo

Another powerhouse in short-term rental sites, Vrbo has been around since 1995 and is a member of the Expedia Group marketplace of travel brands. The site reaches millions of unique visitors globally. Vrbo offers rental managers more freedom and flexibility compared to Airbnb, since the property manager is the merchant of record (MOR).

3. Booking.com

As they promote on their website, you can list anything on Booking.com. In addition to vacation homes, you can list independent hotels, bed and breakfasts, apartments, and more, making this a solid option for property owners with a variety of different property types. In most cases, Booking.com is not the MOR.

4. Expedia

Expedia is one of the largest travel agencies in the world, with subsidiaries involved in hotel bookings, car rentals, plane tickets, and more. Their wide reach can give your listings more visibility, and the property manager serves as the MOR.

5. Google Travel

This fairly new option from Google can help you reach a global, highly-qualified audience for vacation rentals. If you have over 5,000 properties, you can build a direct integration with Google. Otherwise, listing with OTAs that partner with Google can get your properties onto Google Travel.

6. Nofie

One of our industry partners, Nofie, is a unique vacation rental marketplace that puts guests and hosts back in the center of the travel experience by empowering them with booking options. When you list your properties on Nofie, you can showcase all your booking options, including your direct booking site as well as any third-party platforms you're listed on.

7. SkyRun

SkyRun is another of our industry partners, representing vacation rental properties across the US, Mexico, and Canada. In addition to listing your properties on their own website, SkyRun also acts as your hands-on property manager and lists your properties on over 65 different short-term rental sites.

8. Rental Retreat

Rental Retreat is another distribution channel designed to help travelers find professionally managed vacation rentals. After connecting property managers with interested guests, they step back and let the property manager handle the details – which means more control for you. If you have a lot of properties, they also offer a convenient API to make creating listings fast and easy.

9. Vacation Finder

This niche OTA site only works with professionally managed properties. They require the lowest online pricing in order to be listed on their website, but there’s no commission when guests make a booking. With Vacation Finder, you remain the MOR and get to book directly with guests.

10. Evolve

Evolve is another vacation rental company that lists your properties on their site in addition to providing essential property management service. They can connect you with experts to buy and sell properties to rent, manage guest communication, clean and maintain your properties, and more.

11. TripAdvisor

Another well-known travel service, TripAdvisor focuses on user-generated content but does also have a built-in hotel and vacation rental booking service. They also own several other short-term rental sites, including FlipKey and HolidayLettings, and act as the MOR for all bookings.

12. Fairbnb

Fairbnb calls itself community-powered tourism and it takes its social responsibilities seriously. A portion of the platform fee is used to help crowdfund social projects and give back to the host’s community.

13. Agoda

Based in Singapore and one of the fastest-growing online travel agencies, Agoda boasts a global audience with a focus on Asian markets. They are the MOR and have a multilingual support team that can connect you with guests around the world.

14. Atraveo

Atraveo targets a global market but tends to attract more European guests. They have a multi-lingual team that can help your listings reach more vacationers.

15. HomeToGo

HomeToGo lists vacation rentals for houses, apartments, farms, cabins, and more, and has a network of platforms and partners that help listings reach even more travelers. They also own the short-term rental site Tripping.

Luxury Vacation Rental Sites

16. Smiling House

With a focus on exclusive, luxury properties, the Smiling House platform lists accommodation suited for high-income audiences. If you plan on listing here, Smiling House will be the MOR and your competition may include chalets, mansions, villas, and castles from around the world.

17. Plum Guide

Plum Guide is exclusively for exceptional, high-end vacation rentals. They set extremely high standards for what they will list, but attract longer stays and a more reliable customer base. They are the MOR for all guest payments.

18. OneFineStay

This is another high-end short-term rental site that focuses on offering exclusive, luxury rental experiences. For hosts, they offer professional photography, housekeeping, booking management services, and more in order to maintain the level of quality they promise to guests, along with service as the MOR.

Specialty Short-Term Rental Sites

19. BringFido

Do you rent out pet-friendly properties? BringFido caters to guests who specifically want a vacation rental or independent hotel that welcomes dogs. They are the MOR for bookings.

24. Campground

Campground is another short-term rental site that specializes in remote nature getaways. In addition to actual properties and accommodations, they also rent out campsites and RV park spaces.

25. Whimstay

Not all vacations are planned in advance, and Whimstay focuses on travelers who make last-minute plans. In exchange for lower booking prices and a willingness to take bookings with short notice, you can fill gaps in your rental schedule that would otherwise go unbooked.
